From this side, in late fall (or, if you prefer, early winter) this bridge resembles an abandoned industrial site more than anything else.
Keeping stonework clean in a city is a never-ending job, and a costly one. Skirmishes are won here and there, but it’s a long war.

Lovely! Living in a city of draw bridges, I can really appreciate the stone arches. We have a few, but they are outnumbered.
Draw bridges are marvelous, too, though perhaps a bit more for their mechanics than the designs themselves. (Eagerly awaiting word of your Brompton’s arrival, here, Seattle — it must be soon!?)
