A Matter of Definition

Guy in a business suit tosses briefcase — looks like freedom, no?

Heh, heh, but so does burdened little Basil!

Is it wise to give Basil any ideas? Perhaps your “burdened” description wasn’t serious? (no, I cannot imagine you abusing Basil – even unintentionally?)

As you suspect, Ian, Basil is loved and adored, and, as one should, I do treat him with the utmost care and affection! This was my feeble attempt to point out that even “burdened”, Basil represents freedom. Basil doesn’t mind being encumbered one bit — he’s ready for adventure any way it comes! (Surely even life with a briefcase — if one finds that a bit of a grind — is improved radically if one owns a Brompton, don’t you think?)

Hmmm… now there’s another outlet for you – designing a front luggage storage method for a briefcase? Brompton’s price for their A bag is rather eye-watering & yes, the Brompton freedom machine must benefit the briefcase-encumbered.
Sorry for any (feeble/tongue-in-cheek?) inference that “Basil seeks freedom” could ever be anything other than “Basil is freedom”. We Bromptonauts know that Basil’s load is not a burden but a feature (that we’d be lost without?)
Keep these unique Basil-scenes coming. Maybe with their own blog category?

Brompton’s A bag is beautiful, but that price . . . ouch. I have been kicking around an idea for a sleeve of sorts, but it’s only the vaguest of ideas at this point.

True enough, Ian, a Brompton’s cargo-ferrying ability is a huge plus (and an important part of the B identity!). I may be the one who owes the apology, though, for being a bit too obscure!
